Photos: An Afternoon with Dennis McKenna
A sold-out event held at Hamline University hosted over 300 enthusiastic psychedelic advocates in an auditorium where Dennis McKenna spoke on his wealth of ethnobotanical knowledge and experience. A panel was held for questions afterwords with Jessica Nielson, PhD of the University of Minnesota Department of Psychiatry and the Psychedelic Society, and Erik Storlie, PhD of the University of Minnesota Center for Spirituality and Healing. There were also several local musicians, including Mugshot Davin and Fester Clunk providing psychedelic music to accompany the socializing and book-signing.

The Psychedelic Society hosted a coordinated nation-wide screening of From Shock to Awe at the Landmark Lagoon Cinema. βFrom Shock to Awe asks βhow do we heal our deepest wounds?β An intimate and raw look at the transformational journey of two combat veterans suffering from severe trauma as they abandon pharmaceuticals to seek relief from the mind-expanding world of psychedelics. Recent scientific research coupled with a psychedelic renaissance reveals that these substances can be used to heal PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) for individuals and their families. Beyond the personal stories, FSTA also raises fundamental questions about war, the pharmaceutical industry, and the US legal system.β
Photos: Dennis McKenna Farewell Symposium
On November 30th, 2018, at Sundin Music Hall at Hamline University, we hosted a Farewell Symposium for our local psychedelic celebrity, Dr. Dennis McKenna, a long time resident of Minnesota. The symposium featured presentations about psychedelic science and spirituality, while giving the people of Minnesota a final opportunity to meet and chat with Dr. McKenna. Both Dr. McKenna and Dr. Erik Storlie also were selling and signing their books during the networking reception that followed. And thanks to generous cash donations during the event, we raised over $1100 that will be matched and donated to the PATH Fund at the University of Minnesota Foundation.
